Aza Toma | Jigokuraku: Hell's Paradise | 4th wall visitor!

PLOT WITH ME
    Character Name: Aza Toma
    Canon: Jigokuraku: Hell's Paradise
    Player Status: Current

About Your Blorbo: Toma comes from Edo period Japan, and also from a Dark Shonen (tm) series, so on the whole: He has been Through It. Before the battle shonen horrors hit in full, he was a samurai's son, turned orphan, turned bandit, who infiltrated an elite organization of samurai executioners solely to rescue his older brother (his only remaining family, and fully the only person who mattered to him) from a death sentence.

The two of them, along with nine other executioners (real ones) and nine other death row convicts, took on a seemingly impossible mission to retrieve a supposed "elixir of life" from a strange, dangerous island. In name, the elixir was meant to be exchanged for a complete pardon for whichever convict successfully retrieved it; the Aza brothers, however, intended to take it for themselves.

And then they got to the island and the horrors began! Without getting too deep into the plot of a 127-chapter manga, Toma has now on one hand gained some Shonen Combat Enhancements and a bit of experience and independence on top of his natural talent with a sword, but has on the other seen some truly existentially horrifying shit. He's heard enough about gods and seen enough flowers growing places they shouldn't be for a lifetime, thanks.

In terms of personality, Toma is, to put it nicely, practical, strategically-minded, and soft-spoken. To put it less nicely, he's callous, calculating, unsociable, and two-faced - though he's more likely these days to just simply tell someone when he thinks they're a fucking idiot than he was before the Horrors. He's a smug little shit, and the only person he thinks more highly of than himself is his older brother, who he can get REAL annoying about.

Event Plans: Toma is a temporary fourth wall visitor, and he hates this! He hates this, hates all this talk of gods, and REALLY hates those gods having the gall to separate him from his brother. And by death? Really? Do you know how much shit they've gone through to keep that from happening?

On arrival, he'll be biding his time to learn what he can and determine what will be in his best interests; once he's convinced that the way out they're being presented is the only one he's got, though, he'll commit.

He's not too rash to take breaks between runs (and he's never actually died before unlike half his source material's cast so THAT will be new), but won't be particularly eager to get friendly - euphemistically or otherwise - with anyone. That said, he may agree to some temporary cooperation (read: he will try to use people if he considers doing so beneficial), and I invite all efforts to befriend him, bother him, convince him of the practical benefits of peaceful interactions*, etc.

As an aside, he'll be steering clear of the garden, thanks.

    * I'm realizing as I type that when first told about "peaceful interactions" he may Think he knows what people mean, but actually does not, because sex can serve a particular metaphysical power-enhancing purpose in his setting. It... does work differently, though. Let me know if you wanna know more about that??

Interested in: All tbh. Strictly practical teamups, efforts to befriend (I can not guarantee how that'll go), straight-up enmity (that one isn't hard with him). Smut if anyone can, uh, manage that with him - I AM looking at weaponplay and sadism, Toma does have a hell of a sadistic streak to him (though I ALSO can't say he'll likely be responsible about it), and i also can't claim not to enjoy when he suffers, whoops. He may also cry pretty easily depending on setup, which I know some of y'all will be in favor of.

Anything else?: Toma is from post-manga, so HELLA spoilers lie this way for folks who've only seen the anime.

ALSO: I mentioned Toma's brother earlier! The two of them are extremely codependent and their dynamic is, frankly, pretty suspicious in a way coincidentally appropriate to an event related to Greek mythology! It isn't necessarily explicit, but. Well. If he gets to talking or thinking about Chobe, the vibes may get weird.

For that reason and because he's a dick, here's his permissions and opt-out!
