Just a few things from Chai to point out for the upcoming month! They are the usual general reminders to go over!

★ The flora & fauna submission mechanic is available! While originally new creatures/plants needed to have a sexy stamp for approval, you now just need to link your character claim (or check-in) comment if you want to start adding to it. Give me more horrifying beasties, please.

CRAU: City of Ariel
AU Clarification: Ariel implanted microchips into the brains of all the residents of the city (endemic (NPCs) and injected), which supplied the inhabitants with a constant stream of subliminal messaging to keep them "compliant" i.e. constantly thinking about sex. This could also provide phantom stimulation of the senses, stimulate endorphin production to act as an aphrodisiac, ramped up intensity for reeducation purposes, and some intentional experiments and some malfunctions (shared sensations, for example). It was also responsible for power suppression, and provided access to the network and credit system. Sasuke has a scar behind his ear from the surgery, as well as a barcode on the back of his neck just below the hairline. He got unfortunately Used To the entire situation, so he's primed for sex game shenanigans. Being away from the influence of the chip is going to feel freeing as hell, though, to the point where Being Dead Is Kind Of Fine Actually, and while he's on board with the business of solving/reversing? Certain Multiversal Doom, Ariel can stay dead, thanks.

In addition to that main surface change, Sasuke spent a significant amount of his time in Ariel in close (very very very close) contact with Team 7, Team Taka, and a significant number of other characters from his homeworld. He rebuilt a lot of bonds he thought he had severed, built up a lot of ones he had thought were never there, forged new ones entirely (both with people from his homeworld and with others), and eventually had a Come to Uzumaki Moment where he admitted both that he didn't want Naruto to die without Sasuke killing him (which, coming from Sasuke, was a significant admission of respect) and that he couldn't kill Naruto, that he cared too much to go through with it and that that both terrified him and made him feel weak and powerless and utterly lacking in conviction, and worthless for that. Naruto, of course, countered that being someone who couldn't kill his best friend, no matter how hard he tried to and tried to want to, and no matter how many people in his life had pushed and manipulated him toward it, was what actually made Sasuke strong and worth chasing and worth calling friend. It was an altogether ugly and harsh confrontation, with both of them under partial effect of both the microchips and one of the City's emotion-altering experiments, saying nastier things than either of them meant, but the underpinnings were real. With the admission of how much he still cared out between them, Sasuke couldn't (wouldn't) take it back or deny it, and that carried his development through the rest of his time Ariel: he started reforging his bonds with his team in earnest, on purpose, working on admitting his mistakes, admitting the things that he had seen as weakness, the things that terrified him, because absolutely nothing scared him more than making bonds that would hurt unspeakably if broken - the truth that he always, always, expected every bond would eventually broken. Team 7 and Team Taka both helped him through it, helped him navigate the change in himself that he would have had no idea how to handle on his own, and he gradually learned to accept the bonds and let them in and let them grow, accept that maybe they could be worth the danger. It took a long time and a lot of work and a lot of faltering and some backsliding, but by the end of his stay in Ariel he was much more stable, much less cold, and much more willing to show his beloved people the emotions he'd tried to keep hidden to keep himself "safe." With this dramatic shift in acceptance of connection, his conviction to change things at home did not weaken, but the shape of it changed. He never told anyone that he had planned to martyr himself and become a godlike power to unite the world against him, to become the focal point of an endless war as the only way he could see to end the petty squabbling and infighting and backstabbing that he had thought endemic to humanity. He planned instead to return to Konoha arm in arm with his team and dismantle the system through transparency, pulling all the dark corners and red tape of the shinobi world out to light and enforcing accountability so that no more families like his (no more people like him and Naruto and countless other war orphans and child soldiers) could be used and abused in the name of single-minded optics parading as unity. He still has his trauma and his experiences and the instincts to be wary and hide anything he perceives as weakness, but he is considerably warmer and less closed-off for the change.

Okay but no once he adjusts he will be all-in on efforts towards the "solution" for certain multiversal doom, especially since he's not convinced his own world is dead (yet). He's fairly versed in the sex-as-function aspect of things, and it being much more consensual here is a step up and kind of refreshing. The character growth he underwent in Ariel means he's a little more likely than a fresh-from-canon version of himself would be to open up and make connections. He's still fucking awkward and unsocialized as fuck, but he will quickly come to the conclusion that forging new bonds with people he doesn't know and who don't know his whole history might be good fucking practice for being less lost and useless if he ever meets his people again.

Interested in: My big jams for this boy in particular are impermanent transformations (greatest hits from Ariel include genderswap, catboy and incubus), learning what the hell Safe Sane Consensual looks like because boy is that not what he's familiar with + navigating being into a lot of very fringe and unhealthy kinks due to his history, and the dichotomy of being fairly shameless about his sexual preferences but extremely shy and embarrassed about emotional connections and vulnerabilities. Which is to say, praise kink and being way more flustered about having a praise kink than about having a degradation kink. I'm reworking his NSFW permissions post but it'll be linked on his journal once it's done, and his f-list also in progress is here.
