STATE OF THE GAME ANNOUNCEMENT

Hi, guys! Head moderator Chai here to say a few important things.

While this isn't an easy post to make, it is one that I know is necessary. It's no secret that 2024 has been a difficult year for a lot of us. As much as I wish that the slower pace and waning engagement could be attributed to just that, I think it's also a sign that Amani is winding down and following the natural course that DWRP games tend to.

Many people know I have worried about the game's sustainability and continued interest; in fact, The House of Hades event was explicitly stated to be my gauge to see if there was interest in getting some new faces into the game in hopes of revitalizing it. Near the end of the month, I assessed and have the answer I needed to be able to make this announcement.

At the end of this year, I will no longer be moderating or running the metaplot for Amani.

This isn't a closure, necessarily, since I would like to keep the gamebox open to all - past, present, and future - and allow the setting we've all helped build to be a sandbox/PSL backdrop for folks that would like to use it! But by the end of this year, the metaplot will be concluded and my role in maintaining it as a moderator will be over.

I'm sorry for those that this is disappointing news. Yet, I am confident it's the right decision for me at this time. While I love Amani dearly and the community that remains, I also recognize that my own interest and energy in it has begun to wane and that's not fair to anyone. I want to finish the story as nicely as I can, on my own terms, and give not only myself but others the closure that we deserve.

★ WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Overall, there are only two significant changes that will be taking place going forward.

★ Check-in, starting as off this post, will no longer need a summary or be a monthly requirement. Just drop a comment saying you're interested in remaining for the end game and that'll be that!

★ The game, character, and cast caps will all be lifted. People are free to re-join as they please, with as many characters as they want, and play out the endgame to their heart's content. All I ask is that you request access by commenting on the new character claim page.

★ SCHEDULE
As for what the next few months will look like plost-wise, without giving too much away, is:

★ September - A return to the Amani setting proper. After the perceived failure of saving The House of Hades (which will be outlined in an NPC announcement on the September mingle), The Overseer isn't taking it well. The End will see this as an opportunity to strike and begin to crack the foundations of Amani. This will cause system glitches, general fuckery, and more!

★ October - The traditional horror tilt! This year, it'll be another emphasis on eldritch/psychological horror to help tie up loose ends with the other NPCs (Legion, The Dreamer, The Keeper) and the theme will be 'haunted sand and sea.' Hooray!

★ November - Vore. That's the only hint you're getting okay cool thanks bye- (This month is for me, personally, so let me have this.)

★ December - Amani re-stabilizes, adapts to its new function, and inhabitants will also have their new roles to play in saving the multiverse from here on out.

As mentioned, this wasn't an easy post to make. I'd be lying if I said I didn't cry a few times over the last few days trying to collect my thoughts after coming to the decision. While we've had our up, down, and sideways times: Thank you for being here with me, as always, and it means more that I can say that you gave me the opportunity to share this silly little sinulated world with you all.
